From 8 to 10 October 2017, Les Roches Marbella hosted the UNWTO Global Conference on Talent Development for Tourism. The focus of this year’s event, the second edition of its kind, was “Strategies for Competitive Destinations.”

Travel and tourism experts, scholars, and policymakers representing more than 30 countries came to Marbella, Spain for the three-day event. In a series of presentations, workshops and panel discussions, participants shared opinions and expertise on the role of education and talent development in strengthening the competitiveness of tourism destinations.

The conference also featured a student competition, in which young people from around the world presented their proposals for sustainable tourism models. CEO of Les Roches Marbella Carlos Díez de la Lastra highlighted “the need to educate future industry leaders in the values of sustainable tourism, who will become important elements of support and wealth in communities around the world.”
